So the first round of the season is finally here, whether it is your first season or a seasoned campaigner here are a few tips on setting your line up
The two main sections that require your to enter your team are TheBench and also KFL.com.au. TheBench is our official site that provides game scores, ladders, squads etc. Here you need to set your starting line up each week, sadly there is no provision to also name your reserves however for those in MUMFL this is the perfect place to post your fill line up on the wall to record who your reserves are.
The other area that requires you to set a line-up is on KFL.com.au, here is where you can get live in game scoring for your all games so it is a valuable way to track the outcome of your game. TheBench only updates 30 minutes after the match has been completed so getting your side in to KFL.com.au is strongly encouraged.
Finally for those in KFL, get your group email sent to the entire group. At some point this season I’d like to do everything in KFL.com.au and TheBench but until KFL.com.au can facilitate what we need the old email method is still required.
Ok, so here is a new one that everyone needs to be aware off, what do I do about this Flex position. The Flex is a new position that is stand alone to the mid position, yes they score very similarly but you need to set reserves for the Flex like you do with every other position. For those wondering the best way to name your starting line up without leaving guns on the bench here is the way to do it.
Flex: Josh Kennedy
Reserve: Fyfe, Ablett, Swan
Mids: Fyfe, Ablett, Swan, Platten
By naming your side in this manner if Josh Kennedy is a late withdrawal then Fyfe will take the starting position as your Flex. For those that are thinking that sounds too easy, there is a trick to it. If you name Fyfe as a reserve in multiple positions and you have two players withdraw then Fyfe will be used in the position that he scores the lowest at.
What?!?! You can name a bloke at multiple reserves spots. Yes, you can. But as mentioned above if you name a player at multiple reserve positions and he is required at both then the position in which he scores the lowest is where he will be used. Once that process is complete then then the next reserve fills the other missing starter.
Speaking of reserves, if at any point over the weekend you need to activate a reserve to a starter you will need to let Aron/Brad know as both systems will need updating manually to reflect this. The best way to do this is to post on TheBench wall and then push something out in one of the chat groups as a reminder.
So if you haven’t already tried using the Coaches Box on TheBench or registered with KFL.com.au do this before Thursday so you have one thing less to worry about when the AFL teams start being released with the old 17 man extended bench.
